Shrek beats Finding Nemo record
Shrek 2
Shrek 2 continues the story of Shrek and Princess Fiona
Shrek 2 has become the highest-grossing animated film of all-time in the US and Canada.

The tale about the big green ogre has beaten the record set by Finding Nemo, says US box office tracking service Exhibitor Relations.

The computer-animated film had sold $354m (193.5m) worth of tickets at US and Canadian box offices.

Finding Nemo, Pixar's charming tale about a missing fish, made $339.8m (185.7m) on a comparable basis.

Prior to Finding Nemo, Disney's 1994 hit The Lion King lead the animated film league with takings of $328.4m (179.8m).

Shrek 2 is now at number nine on the list of all-time box office hits in North America, ahead of The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers at number 10.

Shrek 2, featuring the voices of Mike Myers and Cameron Diaz, is due to open in the UK on 2 July.
