David Bowie
Bowie's concert in the US was a sell-out
Rock star David Bowie has cancelled a concert in Miami after a lighting technician fell to his death just before Bowie went on stage.

The worker, whose identity was not immediately released, fell about 50ft (15m) from a ladder and landed on the side of the stage on Thursday.

Support band Stereophonics finished their set a few minutes before the incident at the James L Knight Center.

The audience were told postponement or refund information would be given soon.

The lighting technician was checking spotlights before Bowie took to the stage. He was pronounced dead after he was taken to the Ryder Trauma Center.

Reports from the US said he was a 44-year-old local man.

Miami police Sgt Christine Acuna said there was no sign of any suspicious activity, although police were continuing their investigations.

Bowie's next scheduled date is in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday.

Oasis' 1996 gig at Loch Lomond in Scotland was marred when a man was accidentally crushed by a forklift truck.
