Stars honoured at Garage awards

Stars of the UK's hip-hop and garage scene have been honoured at an awards ceremony in London.

Hundreds of people packed the Ocean Music Arena in Hackney on Saturday night for the UK's Peoples Choice Music Awards 2004.

Among the winners were DJ EZ who took three awards - Best DJ, Best Old Skool DJ and Best Radio Show. Radio 1 DJs Trevor Nelson and Tim Westwood were named Best R&B DJ and Best Hip-Hop DJ respectively.

The awards, the UK's only official garage award ceremony, are now into their third year.

Ceremony hosts included former Mercury Music Prize winner Dizzee Rascal - who won the award for Best Underground Music Video - Mike Skinner from The Streets and DefJam.

Other winners included Femme Fatale, who took the award for Best Female DJ, Karnage won Best Grimey DJ while Cameo won Best Newcomer DJ.

Rampage won Best R&B/Hip-Hop entertainers and the prize for Best Collective went to Heartless Crew.

B-Live won Best Entertainer MC, Wiley won Best Grimey MC, and Kano took the title of Best Newcomer MC.
