Pop singer Nelly Furtado has been picked to sing the official anthem for this year's Euro 2004 football event.
Furtado will play at the Euro 2004 closing ceremony
The Portuguese-Canadian singer, best-known for her hit I'm Like a Bird, will play her song Forca at the final ceremony in Lisbon on 4 July.
Furtado's song is also likely to be recorded in Portuguese.
Furtado, who released her second album Folklore recently, won best single at Canada's Juno music awards on Sunday for her song Say What You Want.
"I am delighted that the song Forca will be the official song of the event and in particular that Nelly Furtado is the singer," said Euro 2004 chairman Gilberto Madaíl.
"It is important that the song has a strong Portuguese feel and she understands the passion for football and how important it is to people here in Portugal," he said.
Euro 2004 begins on 12 June in Portugal. Current holders France will face 15 other teams including England, Germany, Russia, Italy and Latvia.
