Unseen episodes of Monkey found
Andrew Sachs
Sachs returns as the voice of Yu-Lung
Thirteen unseen episodes of cult 1970s TV show Monkey have been uncovered and are being dubbed into English by the show's original voiceover actors.

Andrew Sachs, famous for his role as waiter Manuel in comedy Fawlty Towers, returns as Yu-Lung and David Collings reprises his role as Monkey.

The dubbed Japanese mythical fantasy show about the animal spirit Monkey was a popular children's show.

Sachs and Collings said they could barely remember making the early shows.

The pair had never actually met before being united on the BBC Breakfast show on Monday.

Difficult

The voiceovers were recorded separately in a studio in London's Soho.

"We had to put on cod Japanese accents... I thought it would be a bit strange but it seemed to work," he added.

The programme is one of many children's shows that have cornered the market in nostalgia with thirty-something adults.

"Kids from the 70s still remember it as their favourite programme," said Sachs.

David Collings' next project is a far cry from Monkey - he will be appearing at the National Theatre in London in two French plays including Cyrano de Bergerac.
