Illusionist David Blaine has been voted the biggest loser of 2003 in a poll, beating Eurovision failures Jemini and former Spice Girl Victoria Beckham.

The illusionist, who spent 44 days suspended in a glass box with no food over the Thames, drew 24% of the vote.

Second in the poll was former Tory leader Iain Duncan Smith, who got 15% of the 1,000 votes in the poll for McCain Foods.

In third place were Eurovision failures Jemini, who got no points in the show.

The entire Australian nation was voted fourth-biggest loser, after their rugby team's loss to England in the final of the Rugby World Cup.

In fifth place was Victoria Beckham, who has had a difficult year trying to revive her music career.

In sixth place was Charles Ingram, the Who Wants to be a Millionaire? contestant who this year was found guilty of cheating in order to win the 1m prize.
