Geri talks of Spice Girls' split

Geri Halliwell says she "coudn't stay" in the Spice Girls

Pop star Geri Halliwell has hinted that she left the Spice Girls because she fell out with one member of the group.

She makes her admission in a documentary to be screened by Channel 4 next month.

In the programme when Geri is asked why she left, she says: "I couldn't stay. I had no choice, absolutely no choice."

Film-maker Molly Dineen asks: "Do you think they wanted you out?"

"Yes, one particular member did," replies Halliwell.

In previous interviews Halliwell has blamed her abrupt departure on a desire to do more charity work for breast cancer awareness.

When she first left the group there was press speculation that she had fallen out with Mel B - although this was denied by Halliwell and the remaining Spice Girls at the time.

Since leaving the group the only member Halliwell is reported to have been in contact with is Posh Spice Victoria Adams.

Halliwell is currently launching her solo singing career.

Last week the 26-year-old hand-delivered her debut single Look At Me to BBC Radio 1's breakfast show for its first-ever radio play. The single is released on 10 May.
