Coldplay wrote Cash song

Rock band Coldplay have revealed they wrote a song for legendary singer Johnny Cash before he died.

Cash was due to fly out to Los Angeles to record the vocals but he died just a week before.

Coldplay's lead singer, Chris Martin, told the band's official website they were huge fans of the blues singer.

"We recorded it with Rick Rubin... and all that was missing was his vocals. It's really sad," said Martin.

Judge holds off on tapes decision

A US federal court has refused to lift a ban on sending out preview copies of films nominated for awards to competition judges.

District Judge Michael Mukasey said he would wait until the full hearing on Wednesday in Manhattan to make a decision.

The Motion Picture Association of America originally barred copies from being sent out amidst piracy fears but small film companies fear they will miss out.

Independent filmmakers are suing the MPAA, saying the ban inhibits competition - the group said a recent deal to lift the ban for Oscar voters did not resolve the issue.

BBC digital radio station 6 Music is launching a new album chart show specifically for new music on Saturday.

Artists will only be eligible for entry into the chart if they have never been in the UK album chart before.

"The music in the 6 Music Chart will be unique - a snapshot of our musical future. It will focus on real music that people are buying before those artists become established," said presenter Vic McGlynn.

The 6 Music Chart will be on Saturdays from 16,00 - 18.00 and will be repeated on Sundays from 07.00 - 09.00.
