Depp 'returns in Pirates sequel'
Depp's performance was praised
Johnny Depp will appear in a sequel to Pirates of the Caribbean, say reports.

The film, based on a Disney theme park ride, was one of the hits of the summer, earning £400m worldwide.

Depp will reprise his role as the pirate Jack Sparrow, reports Variety.

Orlando Bloom and Keira Knightley, who played lovers, are also set to return.

The film will have the same writers, producer and director on board. There is no word yet on the plot of the film.

The film has been a worldwide hit, including Spanish ticket sales of $34.4m (£22.05m) in four weeks, Mexican receipts of $9.2m (£5.89m) in four weeks, and $3.2m (£2.05m) in Holland.

The movie made $70.4m (£42.2m) in its first week, one of the strongest openings of the year.
