Spice Girls announce tour

The Spice Girls: Playing live in time for Christmas

The Spice Girls have announced new UK tour dates for the end of the year, scotching suggestions they will split up now two of them are mothers.

The foursome have announced dates at Manchester's Evening News Arena on 4 and 5 December, and at London's Earl's Court on 11 and 12 December.

The shows will be the first since a series of stadium shows in London and Sheffield last September.

Since then, both Scary Spice Mel B and Posh Spice Victoria Adams have become parents. Scary Spice's baby, Phoenix Chi, was born on 19 February, while Brooklyn Joseph Beckham was born on 4 March.

Some pundits predicted the group would split following the babies' birth. But the group are determined to prove they can combine motherhood and pop stardom.

Speaking on BBC Radio 1's Zoe Ball Breakfast Show, Victoria Adams said:" We can't wait.

"We've had a bit of time to come home, chill out, do bits and pieces on our own so we're going to get back together."

Acting rumours

But asked about rumours she had been lined up to appear in the film version of Nick Hornby's book High Fidelity alongside Hollywood star John Cusack, she said she was interested in moving into acting.

"I haven't found the right thing to do yet. I am interested in it but it's important to make sure that the first thing you do is the right thing."

Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell may well upstage her former colleagues on Friday - when she appears on the same programme taking questions from listeners.

Meanwhile, two of the group are set for another accolade - being immortalised in wax at London's Rock Circus exhibition.

Modellers made 150 measurements of Baby Spice Emma Bunton's face, and sought to match the blue of her eyes during the sitting.

The £30,000 double is expected to take six months to finish. Victoria Adams is expected to sit for the Rock Circus team in the next few weeks.
