The big screen version of Marvel comic hero Hulk has held on to the top of the UK and Ireland box office in its second weekend, taking £1.3m.

The movie, starring Eric Bana and Jennifer Connelly, kept comedy Bruce Almighty and action sequel Charlie's Angels 2 in the second and third spots.

Hulk, directed by Ang Lee, has already held the number one position in the US but has had mixed reviews.

The only new entry in the top five is animated adventure Sinbad, featuring the voices of Brad Pitt and Catherine Zeta Jones.

It opened in fourth position, taking £828,000.

German satire Goodbye Lenin! was the only other new entry in the chart, in 12th spot, earning £135,000.

The chart could change next week when Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines opens in UK cinemas.

The film, starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, is expected to go straight to number one.
