Ray Charles postpones tour
Ray Charles
Charles pioneered soul music
Music legend Ray Charles has postponed 14 concert dates after suffering from acute hip discomfort.

The 72-year-old also had to cancel three shows last week because of the problem but plans to resume his tour in late summer, starting on 22 August in California.

He is now having treatment in Los Angeles.

His next scheduled show was due to be on 30 July in Worcester, Massachusetts.

Charles, a pioneer of soul music whose biggest hits include Georgia on My Mind and I Can't Stop Loving You, played his 10,000th concert on 23 May in Los Angeles.

The 12-time Grammy winner, blind since the age of six, released his latest album, Thanks for Bringing Love Around, last year.

The album includes a new version of What'd I Say, a song he first released in 1959 that became one of his first hits.
