Police break-up Hynde KFC demo
Chrissie Hynde
Hynde is an animal rights activist
Pretenders star Chrissie Hynde was briefly detained by police after joining an animal rights demonstration outside a KFC restaurant in Paris.

She leant her support to the PETA charity, which is protesting about what it calls the "inhumane treatment" of chickens by the fast food chain.

Hynde and about a dozen other protestors were taken to a nearby police station and released less than an hour later.

She said she was willing to pay any fine imposed and vowed the protest against the company would continue.

The group had smeared red paint across the window of the restaurant to symbolise the blood of dead chickens.

Just weeks ago Hynde joined Greenpeace activists lobbying Spanish authorities to free the impounded Greenpeace Rainbow Warrior ship from the port of Valencia.
