New housemate for Big Brother
Lisa from Big Brother
Lisa joined the remaining six contestants
A new contestant has entered Channel 4's Big Brother house as producers try to spice up the series.

Thirty-five year-old Lisa Jeynes from south Wales joined the six remaining housemates on Saturday night, following the eviction of Tania Do-Nascimento the previous night.

Having arrived on day 37 of the 64-day reality show, Lisa still has an equal chance of winning the £70,000 prize.

Nush and Ray were the first to discover Lisa in the reward room, where she had been waiting with crates of beer, champagne and pizzas.

"You have no idea how bizarre this feels," she told them.

"Are you new?", asked Steph, to which Lisa joked: "I was on my way to the pub and I got lost!"

Producers describe Lisa as a former model with a small tattoo of a love heart on her bottom.

Her ideal job would be working as a soap star, but she was recently a clothes-shop assistant and recently completed an Open University course in social sciences, it said.

She can neither nominate, nor be nominated, on Monday, the channel said.

However, bookmaker Ladbrokes made her 12-1 to win the series on Sunday, after originally making her 6-1.

Before Lisa's surprise arrival, a Channel 4 spokeswoman said: "Big Brother is always looking for new twists during the series, and this will be another little challenge for the housemates."

While viewing figures have remained steady, this fourth series of the hidden-camera show has been criticised in the media for its lack of conflict or passion between the housemates.

'Different experience'

But the spokeswoman said Channel 4 was happy with the show's progress.

"The viewing figures are good and so are the figures for the website, so we're happy with it," she said.

"Big Brother is a different experience every year."

Last week the programme swapped contestant Cameron Stout for a housemate from the African version of the programme, Ugandan law student Gaetano Kagwa.

But the swap ended on Friday, with Cameron being welcomed back to the UK house and Gaetano returning to his fellow contestants in South Africa.

Unofficial overnight figures show 5.2 million people saw Tania leave the Big Brother house on Friday, more than any other channel except ITV1's A Touch Of Frost, which had 6.1 million viewers.

She was evicted with 72% of viewers' votes, in a three way tussle with Nush Nowak and Steph Coldicutt.

Some 676,109 votes were cast by phone, interactive TV or by text message.
