Boy for Connelly and Bettany
Pregnant actress Jennifer Connelly has said she and her husband, actor Paul Bettany, are expecting a boy.

The couple, who met during the making of the Oscar-winning film A Beautiful Mind, are expecting the baby in August.

A spokeswoman for Connelly, who was supposed to be doing press for her forthcoming film The Incredible Hulk, said the actress was "on bed rest right now".

The couple were married in January.

Stefani to take screen role

No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani is to star in the new film from Taxi Driver director Martin Scorsese, it has been reported.

Stefani will play blonde screen legend Jean Harlow in Scorsese's film The Aviator, which recounts the life of eccentric tycoon Howard Hughes.

Stefani, who is married to Bush lead singer Gavin Rossdale, will appear alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, who plays Hughes, and Kate Beckinsale as Ava Gardner.

Stefani has already played bit parts in the Ben Stiller film Zoolander and in TV's Dawson Creek.

Chimps ad sparks complaints

The Independent Television Commission (ITC) has begun investigating complaints about a television advertisement using performing chimpanzees.

The ad for Halford's furniture store uses chimps in tracksuits and has so far led to 73 complaints, the ITC said.

Viewers complained the new ad is "exploitative" and "degrading" to the animals.

Chimpanzees were the hallmark of ads for the tea brand PG Tips until recently.

Linkin Park cancel over injury

Rockers Linkin Park have cancelled their European tour after singer Chester Bennington was admitted to hospital.

He was taken to a Los Angeles hospital complaining of severe back and abdominal pains, and is remaining there as doctors determine his condition.

As a consequence all European dates in June, including Germany, Holland and Spain, have been called off.

A spokesman for the band said: "All touring and video shoot plans in Europe have been put on hold this month as we make sure Chester fully recovers."

Potter event gets webcast

JK Rowling will appear at a special Harry Potter event in London which will be broadcast live on the internet.

The show will take place at the Royal Albert Hall later this month and will be hosted by Stephen Fry.

Rowling will read extracts from the fifth book in the series, The Order of the Phoenix, which is released the week before.

The show will be broadcast on 26 June by MSN.

Popstars losers seek new manager

Popstars: The Rivals runners-up One True Voice, who scored a festive number two hit with Sacred Trust, have spoken about their search for a new manager.

The boy band insist they have not fallen out with pop guru Pete Waterman, who was given responsibility for the band following the ITV1 talent show.

"After Christmas, we were all a bit confused, and we weren't actually sure whether Pete was our manager or not, and it's only when we researched hard, we found out that we didn't have a manager," they told BBC Radio 1.

The band said they have since been organising much of their own promotion for their follow-up single Shakespeare's (Way With Words) but want a manager to give them more time to focus on their music.

Richard Cusack dies

Actor and screenwriter Richard Cusack has died at the age of 77.

Cusack's five children include Hollywood actors John and Joan Cusack.

Richard Cusack appeared in My Bodyguard with daughter Joan. He also wrote plays and the 1999 HBO film The Jack Bull, starring his son John.

"He encouraged us to go for our passions, our dreams, what we wanted to do," said his daughter Anne.
