Alcohol education for Creek star
Dawson's Creek star Joshua Jackson has been entered into an alcohol education programme following his arrest at a hockey game last year.

Jackson was placed in the programme after admitting he was drunk and disruptive at the game.

The 24-year-old plays Pacey on the television drama.

Jackson must attend 15 hours of alcohol and substance abuse education and complete 24 hours of community service.


Hollywood star for Philbin

Regis Philbin, the host of Live with Regis and Kelly and former host of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, has received a star on the Hollywood Boulevard sidewalk.

Disney chairman Michael Eisner, talk show host Larry King and comic Don Rickleswere among the celebrities who gathered Thursday to praise Philbin for his 40 years of broadcast experience.

The New York-born TV personality joins the likes of recent honorees such as Steven Spielberg and Morgan Freeman on the sidewalk.


Further Jackson documentary focus

A new Michael Jackson documentary will be shown in April on the Fox network in the US as part of a ratings battle with rival networks.

The programme, with the working title Michael Jackson's Private Home Movies, will offer a peek into the pop star's private home movie collection, Fox said.

The 24 April programme will provide "unprecedented access to thousands of hours of never-before-seen footage revealing his real life, family and friends," the network said.

An interview with Jackson by British journalist Martin Bashir attracted an audience of 27 million to ABC in February.


Odd couple reunites

The two stars of the classic TV sitcom, The Odd Couple, have been reunited on stage in South Carolina.

Tony Randall surprised his 1970s sitcom co-star, Jack Klugman , after the second curtain call of On Golden Pond, in which Klugman stars.

The Newberry Opera House's director, Deborah Smith: "The expression on Klugman's face was absolutely incredible."

"I don't think there was a dry eye either on stage or in the audience."

Kulgman, based known as a pathologist in Quincy, played unkempt sportswriter Oscar Madison, while Randall played fastidious Felix Unger in the series.


New baby for chef Oliver

TV chef Jamie Oliver and his wife Jools are celebrating the birth of their second child.

Daisy Boo was born on Thursday evening at Queen Charlotte and Chelsea Hospital in London, nine days after she was due. She weighed in at 8lb 4oz.

The couple already have a daughter, Poppy Honey, who was born on 18 March last year.

A spokesman for the couple said: "All concerned are doing well. It was a natural birth and all went smoothly."


War row hits Robbins party

A 15th anniversary celebration of baseball film Bull Durham has been cancelled because of anti-war criticism by the movie's stars Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon.

The event was cancelled by the Baseball Hall of Fame president Dale Petroskey who sent a letter to Robbins and Sarandon.

Petroskey, a former White House assistant press secretary under President Ronald Reagan, said anti-war comments by the actors "ultimately could put our troops in even more danger".

Robbins said he was "dismayed" and in a letter to Petroskey wrote: "I am sorry that you have chosen to use baseball and your position at the Hall of Fame to make a political statement."

The weekend affair, planned months ago, also was to feature Bull Durham actor Robert Wuhl and writer-director Ron Shelton.


Dennis 'eyes quiz comeback'

Les Dennis is considering a return to Family Fortunes a year after quitting the show.

Dennis left to pursue an acting career after 15 years in the host's job and was replaced by Andrew Collins.

Asked if he wanted to go back to the job, Dennis told ITV1's Today With Des and Mel: "It would be nice to think about it. It was a great show."

Dennis has been a regular in the tabloids following his split from wife Amanda Holden.


Jackson cancels Austria show

Michael Jackson has cancelled plans to appear in Austria on Sunday because of concerns about security.

The 44-year-old singer had been scheduled to play and introduce a charity project for children in the ski resort of Ischgl.

Mark Petrisch, a spokesman for the event's organiser, said it was being cancelled because of security risks "related to world political events".

No more details were given about the specific reasons for the decision.


Opera boss lands Rome job

The music director of London's Royal Opera House, Antonio Pappano, will take over as principal conductor at Rome's Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in 2005.

Current conductor Myung-Whun Chung has decided not to renew his contract - but has agreed to serve until it runs out in September 2005.

British-born Pappano, 44, said his Italian roots had played a part in deciding to accept the post.

He became music director at London's Covent Garden last year.
