Friends and family of the actress shot dead at the home of record producer Phil Spector have held a memorial in her honour.

Lana Clarkson was found dead at the Los Angeles mansion of Mr Spector on 3 February.

About 250 people gathered at the Henry Fonda Music Box Theatre in Hollywood to pay tribute to the B-movie actress.

During the service clips from Clarkson's cult movie Barbarian Queen were shown.

She was cast in the 1985 movie by legendary B-movie producer Roger Corman, giving the actress her first big break.

Home videos of Clarkson horse riding as a child were also screened.

Friends joined together to sing songs they had composed in her memory.

"It was a very warm and loving ceremony," said her agent, Ray Caveleri.

"Everybody that she knew considered her their best friend. She was very unique in that area."

On the night of her death, Clarkson had gone home with Mr Spector after a night at the House of Blues club in West Hollywood, where she worked as a hostess.

A gun shot was heard from inside the house and she was discovered soon after.

Mr Spector, 62, was immediately arrested and was released on $1m bail.

He was due to appear before a court to answer charges on 3 March but police say they will not be ready to present their case by then.

Friends of Mr Spector say he is likely to argue that Clarkson's death was a tragic accident.
