In brief: World domination for Kylie
Pop diva Kylie Minogue has been voted both the sexiest and most beautiful woman in the world as well as top pop star of 2002.

The Australian singer beat Jennifer Lopez and Holly Valance to be named the UK's Heat magazine's sexiest female star for the second year running.

And she was voted the most beautiful woman and top pop star of 2002 in two polls by London tourist attraction Madame Tussaud's.

Hollywood star for Spielberg

Three-time Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg will be the first person to receive a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame in 2003.

The ceremony for the director of Schindler's List, Jaws, Jurassic Park and Saving Private Ryan will take place on Los Angeles' Hollywood Boulevard, in front of the Kodak Theater, on Friday.

"This is one we have been looking forward to for a long time," said Hollywood's honorary mayor Johnny Grant.

Spielberg has directed, produced or executive produced eight of the 30 top-grossing movies of all time.

He is strongly tipped to be nominated for an Oscar this year for best director for new movie Catch Me If You Can, or for science fiction thriller Minority Report starring Tom Cruise.

Drew's 'third wedding' plan

Hollywood actress Drew Barrymore is set to marry Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti, it has been reported.

The ET star has twice been wed before, with both marriages failing after less than a year.

The 27-year-old's marriage to Welsh barman Jeremy Thomas in 1994 lasted 19 days, while she was divorced from comedian Tom Green after five months.

The New York Post reports that Barrymore wants a traditional ceremony, and may wed at George Clooney's Italian villa.

J-Lo denies Valentine wedding

Singer and actress Jennifer Lopez has denied rumours suggesting she will marry actor Ben Affleck on Valentine's Day.

Lopez, 32, said she was doing everything she could to avoid the media hype surrounding the engagement.

"We don't know when the wedding will be. We need to sit down together and choose a date," Lopez said in an interview published on Sunday in Rio de Janeiro newspaper Jornal do Brasil.

Lopez, who has married twice before, also denied the couple were planning to spend $1.5m (94,000) on their wedding ceremony.

Rapper 50 Cent on gun charges

Rap star 50 Cent has appeared in court for a preliminary hearing on gun charges.

Though he did not speak during Friday's appearance, he maintained his innocence outside the courtroom via his lawyer.

The New York hip-hop artist, born Curtis Jackson, was arrested on Tuesday when police allegedly found two loaded guns in his rented car.

He was granted bail of $10,000 (6,243) and was released the same day.

Authors of the future named

An unpublished author has been included on a list of Britain's 20 best young writers drawn up by literary publishers Granta.

Monica Ali, aged 35, was included on the list for her debut novel Brick Lane - which is set to be published this year.

The list - published every 10 years and chosen by writers and critics - also features Sarah Waters, Zadie Smith and AL Kennedy.

It is considered influential since its first selection, in 1983, chose many future literary stars, including Martin Amis, Julian Barnes and Ian McEwan.

Clooney puts work before love

Hollywood actor George Clooney has said his hectic movie schedule prevents him maintaining a long-term relationship.

The 41-year-old actor said his workload had ruined his three-year romance with French model Celine Balitran, but despite this he was still determined to press on with his successful career.

In an interview with the Sunday Mirror Magazine, Clooney, star of film's such as Ocean's 11, said he had made work the priority of his life.

"I feel driven to work and I'm not driven when it comes to relationships. I've never been good at it, and so my expectations are fairly low when it comes to the chance of being with the same woman over a long period of time," he added

Gareth gets Comic Relief

Pop Idol runner-up Gareth Gates is to record this year's official Comic Relief single.

The singer will release the charity record in the run-up to Red Nose Day, 14 March.

Pop Idol winner Will Young has already taken the charity single route with Don't Let Me Down, released in aid of Children In Need.

A spokeswoman for the charity said it had not been decided whether Gareth would record a cover version or release a new track, or whether other stars would join him on the single.
