Hutch and Huggy together again
David Soul
David Soul: Teaming-up with his old friend Antonio Vargas
People in the UK could soon be experiencing disturbing 1970s flashbacks as David "Hutch" Soul teams up with his old buddy Antonio "Huggy Bear" Fargas for an eight-night run of shows in London.

The two, famed for their roles in the cult cop show Starsky and Hutch, are together again for the first time in nearly twenty years. But they won't be playing cops and robbers - instead they are putting on a show called Alive In The Fridge in Brixton.

It will begin with a performance of The Dead Monkey, the black comedy Soul produced at London's Whitehall Theatre last year, which closed in December after failing to pull in the crowds.

Theatre in the club scene

Soul said: "The Dead Monkey opened in fringe at Hampstead and then it moved to the West End but we discovered that really it's audience was really not a West End audience.

"Now it has become a play with a cult following. We had some interest from the Fridge and thought `let's try an experiment- let's bring theatre into the club scene'.

"I was talking to Antonio when he was over here and asked him if he wanted to do the play with us. I sent him the script he read it and thought it was terrific," he said.

Fargas is flying into Britain in February from Los Angeles to begin rehearsals.

There will also be a musical section in the new show with the two actors playing songs live.

As a singer Soul had two number ones in the 1970s with Don't Give Up On Us and Silver Lady. Fans could be lucky as promoters promise that he will play some old favourites as well as new songs.

Fargas, also a musician, has a new rap CD which will be released in the US this year.
