Osbournes 'regret' TV show

Sharon Osbourne is being treated for colon cancer
Sharon Osbourne, whose family reality TV series The Osbournes has been a major ratings hit in the US, says she wishes she had never let MTV cameras into her home.

Osbourne, rocker Ozzy's wife and manager, told the ABC network that the second 10-episode series of The Osbournes would be the last.

She said the cameras were "invasive" and left the family with "no privacy".

The show The Osbournes has made heavy-metal star Ozzy, Sharon and two of their children, teenagers Kelly and Jack, into household names.

Record ratings

Osbourne said the show - which drew record ratings for MTV this spring - had changed her family "so much".

Her children, she said, now had lawyers and business managers.

"This is definitely the last year," Osbourne said. "We can't do it anymore."

The family signed up to a second series after weeks of negotiations with MTV. The deal has reportedly earned them £14m.

Osbourne, who is fighting colon cancer, said her husband had begun to drink again because he could not cope with the thought of losing her.

"You know when you're sick, you want to be on your own?" she said. "I can't throw up on my own and Ozzy can't get drunk on his own."

The family has done little to avoid the spotlight up until now.

Kelly has recorded her own CD which is due out soon, and the family will host the American Music Awards on 13 January.

UK viewers have been able to watch The Osbournes on Channel 4 since 1 November.

The channel won a bidding war for the show with an offer of $150,000 (£100,000) per episode.
