The Little Friend: Your views
Donna Tartt's The Little Friend
The book is Tartt's first for 10 years
American author Donna Tartt has returned after a 10-year absence with her new novel The Little Friend.

The book, the follow-up to her acclaimed debut The Secret History, tells the story of 12-year-old Harriet, and her determination to uncover the truth behind her brother's mysterious death.

"Tartt has come though with a page-turning murder mystery that is both a gripping and thought-provoking read," wrote BBC News Online's Keily Oakes.

But what do you think?

Has the book been worth the wait? How does it compare to Tartt's previous work?

Have your say

A compelling read. I've waited patiently for this book since reading Secret History and had almost given up hope. Give her a Pulitzer - or, at the very least, an Edgar.
Robert del Valle, USA

The media coverage about Donna Tartt's new novel has been dominating all book review sections for months. While I am a great admirer of Tartt's talent and will buy the book and no doubt enjoy it thoroughly, I feel book review editors on both sides of the pond are acting as if this is the only worthy book to be published this year. Is it not their duty as a book reviewer to assist the reading public in discovering authors they would not necessarily be aware of?
Melanie, Expat in US

The book was very good, completely gripping and more moving than the last novel. Well worth the wait!
Donna Colbron, Scotland
