Young conquers album charts
Will Young
The album features tracks written by Young
The debut album of Pop Idol winner Will Young has gone straight into the album charts at number one.

From Now On features several songs written by Young as well as the chart-toppers Anything Is Possible/Evergreen and his cover of The Doors' Light My Fire.

Sales figures for the first week of release have yet to be confirmed.

Young's album ended the chart-topping reign of the Elvis Presley compilation album Elvis - 30 Number 1 Hits, which had spent two weeks at number one.

The Elvis single A Little Less Conversation took over the top spot in the singles charts from Young's track Light My Fire earlier this year.

The Rolling Stones' compilation album Forty Licks held on to the number two spot for a second week.

Young's success in the album chart comes as his duet with Pop Idol runner-up Gareth Gates was knocked off the top of the singles chart.

The pair's cover version of The Beatles' The Long And Winding Road had spent two weeks at number one.

However, it was replaced by The Ketchup Song by the Spanish girl group Las Ketchup.

The track, which has been outselling Will and Gareth by three to one, has been a massive hit across Europe, and Central and South America, reaching number one in ten countries.

Las Ketchup consists of three sisters - Pilar, Lola and Lucia - who cite their father, a flamenco guitarist named Tomate (Tomato) as the inspiration behind the single.

S Club Juniors had the week's second highest new entry, with the single New Direction going straight in at number two.

Complicated, by teenage Canadian singer Avril Lavigne, and All My Life, by US rockers The Foo Fighters, completed the top five.
