Ozzy's wife collects Emmy award

The sick wife of Ozzy Osbourne has attended an award ceremony to collect a gong for the success of their TV show The Osbournes.

Sharon Osbourne has been undergoing treatment for cancer of the colon was been determined from the outset that it would not beat her.

She was at the Creative Arts Emmys in Los Angeles with daughter Kelly, one of the stars of the show, to collect the best reality TVshow award.

The awards are mainly handed out for technical and artistic achievement as a precursor to the main Emmy awards to held on 22 September.

Sharon Osbourne, who is one of the producers of The Osbournes and came up with the original idea, accepted the award on behalf of her husband, saying "Ozzy I love you".

Hit comedy Frasier notched up another clutch of awards, making it the most Emmy honoured show.

The show, featuring Kelsey Grammer as a neurotic psychiatrist, won three awards, bringing its Emmys tally to 30 since it first aired in 1994.

But it was black comedy Six Feet Under that collected the most awards for a fictional show, with a total of five.

NBC's coverage of the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City won six awards for its technical triumphs.

Although the big acting and directing awards are given out at the main Emmys ceremony, several awards were given out for acting achievements.

Actor Charles S Dutton was named best actor making a guest appearance in a drama for The Practice and Patricia Clarkson won the best guest actress award Six Feet Under.

The comedy guest appearance acting awards went to actress Cloris Leachman for Malcolm in the Middle and to Anthony LaPaglia for Frasier, in which he played Daphne's moronic brother Simon Moon.
