Canadian stars honoured
Singer-songwriters Joni Mitchell and Bruce Cockburn have been named appointees with the Order of Canada, Governor General Adrienne Clarkson has announced.

Mitchell, who comes from the province of Saskatchewan, is known for such songs as Big Yellow Taxi, Case of You, and Both Sides Now.

She was made a companion of the order, which is the highest designation.

Cockburn was elevated to officer of the order from his previous status as a member.


Ford dreams of coal

Actor Harrison Ford has revealed that his boyhood dream was to be a coal delivery man.

He also told America's Parade magazine that he never planned on becoming a film star.

"I never thought I'd be anything other than a character actor who would disappear into the roles he played," he said. "That was my ambition."

He said he chose acting because he "wanted Harrison Ford to have many lives".


Pulp gear up for outdoor concert

Pop band Pulp are to perform at a live outdoor concerts at Cornwall's Eden Project on Friday.

The Eden Session is the first in a series of concerts to be held at the former clay pit near St Austell.

Lead singer Jarvis Cocker will kick of the event before a 3,000-strong audience inside a plant-filled greenhouse.

The Eden Project's biomes cover 34 acres of the 200ft-deep former clay pit.
