Creed cancel tour after crash
Scott Stapp (c) is not thought to be badly injured
Rock band Creed have been forced to cancel the second leg of their US tour after lead singer Scott Stapp was involved in a car crash.

Stapp was injured in a collision with another vehicle while he was in Orlando.

The band said doctors had advised him not to perform on stage while he takes time to recuperate.

All dates up until 31 May have been cancelled but no alternatives dates have been organised.

Few details have emerged over the accident, although the band's website said the crash happened at sixty miles an hour.

The band's spokesman Steve Karas would only comment: "We don't want people to believe that this is a situation where Scott will not recover."

The dates were scrapped at the last minute, with fans only learning that Monday's North Dakota gig was off during the day.

Summer tour

Creed have told fans their summer dates were not in jeopardy.

The band have become one of America's most popular rock groups, selling more than 20 million albums.

They have played to more than four million fans during four years of touring.

Their third offering, Weathered, topped the US chart for eight weeks, equalling the record of Eminem's Marshall Mathers LP and 'NSync's No Strings Attached.

They have scored two top 20 hits in the UK but have yet to reach the heights of other US rock bands such as Limp Bizkit and Nickelback.

In 1998, Creed were named rock artists of the year at the Billboard Music Awards and have won the award every year since.

They went on to win a best rock song Grammy for With Arms Wide Open in 2001 as well as four gongs at the VH-1 Awards.
