Rings leads MTV movie nods
Lord Of The Rings
Lord Of The Rings has been a worldwide box office hit
Lord of the Rings is leading the nominations for the annual MTV Movie awards, to be held on 6 June.

The Fellowship of the Ring, the first instalment of the JRR Tolkien trilogy, has received six nominations including best movie.

Cameron Diaz picked up two awards last year
Elijah Wood was up for best male performance for his portrayal of the hobbit Frodo Baggins, and Orlando Bloom, who played the archer elf Legolas, was nominated for male breakthrough performance.

The epic was also up for best villain (Christopher Lee), best action sequence and best fight.

Action movies The Fast and the Furious and Rush Hour 2 received five nominations each.

Animated feature Shrek received three nods, including the best comedic performance for Eddie Murphy, who supplied the voice for Shrek's sidekick the donkey.

Renee Zellwegger
Renee Zellwegger's Bridget Jones: Best kiss?
Moulin Rouge won three nominations for Nicole Kidman - for best female performance, best musical sequence and best kiss, for Kidman and Ewan McGregor.

Renée Zellwegger and Colin Firth are also up for best kiss in Bridget Jones's Diary.

And Daniel Radcliffe's performance in the Harry Potter film was nominated for best male breakthrough performance.

Slick crime movie Ocean's Eleven was nominated for having the best on-screen team, which included George Clooney, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon, Elliott Gould and Brad Pitt.

Last year Roman epic Gladiator repeated its Oscars success by being named best film at the awards.

The irreverent awards show will be held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on 6 June.
