Sven and Ulrika: Opposites attract?
Ulrika Jonsson and Sven Goran Eriksson
There has been a frenzy of press speculation about the pair
The reported romance between the TV presenter and the England football coach may be proof that opposites attract.

Aside from their country of origin - Sweden - the pair seem to have little in common.

The bubbly Ms Jonsson began her TV career as a weather presenter on the now-defunct breakfast station TV-am. She had previously been a secretary at the company.

Jonsson began at TV-am as a secretary
During the 1990s she presented ITV's Gladiators show, and she also became well-known through her work with comedians Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer.

A succession of boyfriends has kept Jonsson, 34, in the gossip columns and celebrity magazines over the years.

She married cameraman John Turnbull in 1990, the father of her son Cameron, but they later split.

Publicity

She also had a relationship with James Crossley, alias Hunter from the show Gladiators.

Sven Goran Eriksson
Eriksson recently released his own classical compilation
Johnsson's relationship with footballer Stan Collymore inevitably attracted publicity - a romance which ended with more headlines after a violent incident in a Paris bar.

The TV personality has also had a daughter, Bo, with the businessman Marcus Kempen.

She has been single since last year after breaking up with public relations boss Simon Astaire, 40.

By contrast the England coach's private life seems rather staid.

Poetry

Where Jonsson represents UK pop culture, 53-year-old Sven Goran Eriksson has just released his own collection of classical music.

He is said to read Tibetan poetry and likes to recite Japanese proverbs.

Ulrika Jonsson
Ulrika Jonsson has refused to discuss the rumours
Eriksson was married to his teenage sweetheart for a number of years before becoming involved with his current girlfriend, Italian lawyer Nancy Dell'Olio, 37, three years ago.

He has gone on record as disliking media intrusions, saying in one interview: "It is very frustrating when they keep trying to find out about your private life. But what can you do?"

But he has not been able to prevent tabloid reporting on his private life - including the publication of photographs of Ms Dell'Olio in a bikini on holiday.

And the news of his relationship with Jonsson will only intensify media interest in this reserved and private man.
