Liz Hurley gives birth to boy
![]() Liz Hurley announced her pregnancy in November
Actress Elizabeth Hurley has given birth to a baby boy, it has been confirmed.
The baby, born at 1222 BST on Thursday, has been named Damian Charles. Hurley's spokesman said both mother and child are "happy and healthy". Hours after the birth, a man was arrested and charged with harassing the actress, Scotland Yard said.
Since announcing her pregnancy the former Estee Lauder model has been involved in a very public argument with TV producer Stephen Bing, whom she says is the father. The 36-year-old says she fell pregnant while they were in an "exclusive" relationship, but he told newspapers he did not believe he was the father. At the time she said she was shocked at Bing's claims about their 18-month relationship and said she was "deeply distraught" at the implication she had other lovers. Bing was reported as saying it was Hurley's "choice to be a single mother", earning him stinging criticism from the UK press. Child support The millionaire was dubbed "Bing Laden" over his perceived treatment of Hurley. It is not yet known whether he will demand a paternity test, although Hurley believes it will not be necessary. Under Californian law, if Damian Charles is his, the child would be entitled to a substantial portion of his fortune. Hurley would also be due millions of dollars in child support until her son is at least 18 years old.
Her former boyfriend Hugh Grant promised to stick by her throughout her pregnancy and has been pictured with her in both London and the US. But the Notting Hill actor denied he would be the baby's godfather. The pair split in May 2000 after 13 years together but have remained good friends.
