In pictures: Sir Nigel's funeral
Family and friends have attended the funeral of Sir Nigel Hawthorne, to celebrate his life and remember his career as a highly respected actor.
It was held at Sir Nigel's local church in Hertfordshire, where the right Reverend Christopher Herbert paid tribute, saying he "gave us the ability to be honest about our own absurdities".

![]() The hymn Lord of the Dance was sung during the service
![]() Sir Nigel won critical acclaim for his work on both stage and screen
