Soaps in Sunday showdown

Will Coronation Street's stars break out the champagne on Sunday night?

An EastEnders special is going head-to-head with Coronation Street on Sunday for only the second time in the rival soaps' history.

The hour-long special will see Tiffany and her mum Louise end up in bed with their respective lovers.

The steamy EastEnders storylines are a culmination of the smouldering tensions between Grant Mitchell, played by Ross Kemp, and Tiffany's mother Louise (Carol Harrison), and tentative approaches between Tiffany and policeman Beppe.

Grant appears as the unwelcome guest at Tiffany and Louise's birthday party and things come to a head.

But the course of love does not run smooth for either pair and the scene is set for more drama which EastEnders bosses hope will put them ahead in the ratings.

EastEnders executive producer Matthew Robinson said: "If most of the nation isn't talking about what's happening in EastEnders on Monday, I will be surprised.

"Come December, if the whole nation isn't hooked, I will be amazed."
