So Solid gig cancelled
So Solid Crew
So Solid Crew: Mobo award winners
So Solid Crew's next London concert has been cancelled over fears of a repeat of the violence at the band's last gig.

London's Astoria night club has called off the group's 18 December date, leaving the band without a show in the UK capital on their current concert tour.

The garage act described the move as "a huge disappointment".

It's a shame London's going to miss out - it's our home

There had already been considerable ticket sales for the concert.

According to reports, the cancellation came after Westminster Council licensing authorities expressed their concern over the dangers of another outbreak of violence.

'Home town'

On Monday the group's DJ Megaman said: "We are truly disappointed that the show at the Astoria has been cancelled.

"We are all from London and were looking forward to playing our home town.

"For all of our fans who bought tickets do not worry - we are looking for a new venue and we will sort this out."

Two men received gunshot wounds at So Solid Crew's 1 November gig at the Astoria, which was held to celebrate the 21st birthday of one of the band members.

It prompted the band to put out a statement saying that they "abhor violence and have made it clear on their record that they want the violence to stop".

The Metropolitan Police confirmed none of the group was involved in the incident.

Both men are now out of hospital and police are still investigating it.

Mobo awards

Commenting on the Astoria cancellation, the group's Oxide said on Monday:

"It's really disappointing for us.

"It's a shame London's going to miss out - it's our home."

This year So Solid Crew won three Mobo awards and hit the UK number one spot their single 21 Seconds - which sold 375,000 copies.

The band's UK tour starts on 5 December.
