Posh's chart wars begin
Victoria Beckham
Beckham promises to reveal all in her book
Posh Spice Victoria Beckham is set to launch the campaign for her first solo number one this weekend.

Saturday sees the launch of a public relations push to promote the singer's latest single, Not Such An Innocent Girl.

Kylie Minogue is set to release her single, Can't Get You Out Of My Head, on the same day - 17 September.

This means a relentless round of interviews and performances for both women in order to give their song a sales edge.

The battle lines were drawn up earlier in the week as Beckham secured headlines for her fake lip piercing, a book serialisation deal and the publication of an unauthorised biography.

Unauthorised

Beckham landed what is thought to be the highest price paid for the exclusive serialisation of an autobiography.

Learning to Fly is due for publication on 13 September and will face a sales war against unauthorised biography Victoria's Secrets by Virginia Blackburn.

For the next three weeks Beckham will conduct a relentless round of interviews and performances to promote the single.

But both Minogue and Beckham have said that they will not engage in a repeat of last year's bad-tempered run-off for number one between Posh and Sophie Ellis Bextor.

Ellis Bextor held the top slot with Spiller's Groovejet (If This Ain't Love).

Both Minogue and Beckham are to perform on Saturday's cd:UK programme, presented by Ant and Dec.

Beckham has made it known that she will then go home to watch husband David captain the English team in Munich in their World Cup draw against Germany.

On Sunday the singers cross paths again, this time in Leicester, where they are both performing at Radio 1's One Big Sunday event at Victoria Park in the city.

As well as her single, Beckham's debut solo album is due out in October.
