Jamiroquai: Your views
As funky as ever or time for a change?
Jamiroquai burst on to the music scene in the early 90s with their refreshing blend of house and funk and a singer who sounded like Stevie Wonder.

Now they have released a new album, A Funk Odyssey. "The album has some strong points but the weak ones niggle. It sounds like all the others for one," wrote the BBC's Brendan Cole. But what do you think?
Is this money for old rope? Or have the band come back with a new direction?
Heard this album about a month ago on an MP3. Now I want the real thing. First I was not sure, but it is such a "It'll grow on you" album. This is up there with Space Cowboy. Mild, mellow, loud and lush. Funk is written all over this one, yet there are tracks for those who like life at a slower pace. Go buy it, it's a must!
Time to call it a day Jay. The Jamiroquai front man does have a good voice, but the group are still churning out the same retro-tinged grooves again and again. It's time Mr K retired and spent his days counting his money and waxing his fleet of ferraris and let some new and innovative bands like High Rollers break through.
Always thought that this lot were too cool from the beginning. A music industry "sucess by numbers" - bet they thought "oh, the hat, the environment, the dancing", just what kids want, but out of touch as ever and believing their own illusion of what is "cool". It is a contrived image which people can see though as naff.
Glad to see Jamiroquai back on the scene after what seems to be a long absence from music and his relationship with Denise Van Outen. And what a terrific first single to release from the latest album.
Have always liked Jamiroquai but to be honest, their sound is starting to become tedious and predictable. Jay has a great voice, perhaps he should try a new direction and move away from his old sound.
I'd like to know what ever happened to Jay Kay's high ideals and social conscience. He seemed to move very quickly from an Emergency on Planet Earth to the soundtrack of a roaring Ferrari on Travelling Without Moving. The words 'sell' and 'out' spring to mind.
I love Jay Kay and the rest of the lads but the sound is becoming tiresome, they need to re-vamp it. It's time for them to check out some different grooves which will kep them ahead of any other acid jazz band.
Their first album was the best thing they ever did. Jay Kay has a good voice, but once again the band keeps putting out the same tired disco grooves. I mean, Emergency On Planet Earth was the best album they ever did and that was only because of the entire Brand New Heavies line-up. Now it seems as if each album gets more mellow and less hard-hitting than the prior one. The second thing is that Jay Kay should have never let Stuart Zender go.
Having listened to the album many times it is a new direction - lots of influence from modern dance bands (Daft Punk etc.) and this is nothing like the sound of Emergency On Planet Earth - some great songs and great grooves which is the similarity with most of the other albums.
Like their last album Synkchronized, it suffers from the Law of Diminishing Returns - each album is an increasingly milky re-tread of the previous one. Hear this once and you'll be convinced you've heard all the songs already. Only really good track is the single Little L. The title is misleading!
