Baywatch to make 'movie debut'
Baywatch
Baywatch's selling point was easy-on-the-eye stars
David Hasselhoff and several members of the original cast of Baywatch are reuniting for a two-hour movie version of the TV drama, according to reports.

The decade-old programme which brought Californian beaches, life guards and bathing-suited beauties to living rooms worldwide was axed in February following a drop in viewing figures.

Despite leaving the programme when it relocated to Hawaii, Daily Variety says David Hasselhoff, the show's most visible actor, is confirmed for the film.

Other cast members reportedly scheduled to appear include Gena Lee Nolin, Yasmine Bleeth, Donna D'Errico, Traci Bingham and Carmen Electra.

According to Doug Schwartz, executive producer and writer of the TV movie, Pamela Anderson has not yet confirmed whether she will appear.

Financial trouble

Baywatch, which has been shown in 148 countries worldwide, moved to Hawaii from Los Angeles in 1999 following a high-profile bidding war between Hawaii and the Australian state of Queensland.

Hawaii offered producers $3m (2.1m) to move the show as well as free air fares, hotels and car rentals.

But following the move viewing figures dropped and its producers hit financial trouble.

Hasselhoff's departure also came as a blow to the show whose attraction was always its easy-on-the-eye stars.

Filming the $5.5m (3.8m) production of Baywatch Blast will begin on Oahu in Hawaii during October followed by filming in Los Angeles, says the paper.
