Aston Martin could make 007 return

James Bond could be back in the driving seat of an Aston Martin for his next film, the car company has revealed.

The British spy's association with the car became well-known after Sean Connery drove an Aston Martin DB5 in 1964's Goldfinger.

Bond has had a BMW in his last three films - but Aston Martin have revealed that they are in talks with film-makers to reunite 007 with their car in the next film, to be shot next year.

Pierce Brosnan, the current James Bond, would be seen driving the latest Vanquish V12 model, of which only 200 will be made this year.

He was briefly seen behind the wheel of an Aston Martin DB5 in a high speed car chase at the start of Goldeneye.

High speed

But Eon Productions, who make the Bond movies, have said no decision had yet been made about which car will be used.

The Vanquish V12 has a top speed of 180mph and will go onto the market for 158,000 in August.

Aston Martin have not revealed whether it will have the same ejector seat, smoke screen tanks, oil slicks, bullet-proof shield and bullet-proof glass as 007's original DB5.

George Lazenby drove an Aston Martin DBS in On Her Majesty's Secret Service in 1969. Timothy Dalton drove a Vantage Volante in The Living Daylights in 1987.

The BMW deal is thought to have been worth 80m and has resulted in huge worldwide exposure for BMW's 7 series, and Z3 and Z8 models.

The next film, due to start filming in January, has not yet been named but will definitely see Brosnan's return for his fourth film as 007, according to Eon.

Cleese return

A spokesperson said British actress Judi Dench is also likely to resurrect her role as MI5 chief M.

Former Monty Python star John Cleese is expected to fill the role of MI5's gadget boffin, a successor to the character played by Desmond Llewelyn, who died in 1999.

The script is being written by Neal Purvis and 81-year-old American Robert Wade, who both worked on The World Is Not Enough.

Producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson - who have worked on 13 Bond films between them - will also be reunited for the project.
