REM guitarist back in court
Peter Buck
Peter Buck arrives at court
REM guitarist Peter Buck has been committed to crown court to face six charges relating to an alleged "air rage" incident.

Buck, 44, appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates Court , north west London, on Monday where he was told he will face trial on the charges at Isleworth Crown Court, west London, on 31 July.

The rock star is charged with criminal damage and assault following an incident on a British Airways flight from Seattle to Heathrow airport.

The incident is said to have happened when the guitarist flew into London for a concert at Trafalgar Square, London, before starting a world tour.

Buck faces charges of disobeying a lawful command of the commander of an aircraft, of being drunk on an aircraft, of damaging British Airways crockery, for using threatening behaviour and assaulting two crew members.

Buck, who appeared in court with his wife, was granted bail on surety of 20,000.

The guitarist refused to comment on his forthcoming court hearing as he was driven away from the hearing.

REM are widely regarded as one of the most influential groups of the past two decades.

The group formed in 1980 with a line-up of Michael Stipe, Peter Buck, Mike Mills and Bill Berry.

Their albums have included Murmur, Document, Out of Time and Automatic for the People.

Drummer Bill Berry left the band after 17 years in 1997.

The band recently released a new album, Reveal, which has been widely praised by critics and fans.
