Triple dance award success for Spiller
Spiller
Spiller come out on top once again
Charttopper Spiller and DJ Carl Cox emerged triumphant at the Dancestar Awards 2001, set up to recognise the best in dance music.

Spiller, featuring lead singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor, were named best house act and best chart act.

Their single Groovejet (If This Ain't Love) was also a winner, picking up the worldwide record of the year prize.

Fatboy Slim
Fatherhood has not stopped Fatboy Slim's winning streak
The group famously beat Victoria Beckham to the number one slot last summer despite a massive publicity drive by Posh Spice.

Cox picked up a two titles as best club DJ and outstanding contribution to worldwide dance music at London's Alexandra Palace.

Television presenter Gail Porter hosted the ceremony, aided by DJs Erick Morillo and Brandon Block.

Virtual

Fatboy Slim, aka Norman Cook, who was nominated in five categories, was handed the best breakbeat/eclectic award.

'Virtual' band Gorillaz won two awards for best video for Clint Eastwood and best marketing campaign following the success of their debut single and album.

Sonique
Sonique has won a host of awards this year
The best radio DJ award went to Pete Tong for his long running Essential Selection show on Radio 1.

The best album category was won by Daft Punk for Discovery while Brit award winner Sonique was named dance star of the year.

Ibiza nightclub Space was picked up the best club while Liverpool venue Cream won best club night for Bugged Out.

The huge New Year's Eve party hosted by Ministry at the Millennium Dome was celebrated as the best one-off event.
