Radiohead on for biggest chart hit
Radiohead
Radiohead took a three year break from singles chart
Radiohead look likely to achieve their biggest hit single ever, according to midweek sales figures.

The Pyramid Song is the band's first single in three years following their decision not to release any from the album Kid A.

Despite little radio play for the track, figures show it sitting behind DJ Pied Piper's Do You Really Like It?, selling 16,761 copies.

The Oxford act, fronted by Thom Yorke, have also just announced a special concert to be broadcast on BBC Two in June.

Their biggest single chart successes so far have been a number three with Paranoid Android and a number four with No Surprises - both taken from the 1997 album OK Computer.

The Kid A album topped the charts in both the UK and the US on its release in the UK and US in 2000.

It also topped a poll of music journalists' for best album of the year.

Top of the Pops

DJ Pied Piper's single is reportedly fast outselling anything else in the charts.

Radiohead will appear on Top of the Pops on Friday for the first time in five years.

Chart expert Gennaro Castaldo, of the HMV retail chain, said: "Even without the usual basics of marketing, like radio play, it shows the strength of their fan base and the depth of their appeal to sell so many copies."

The BBC Two gig on 9 June will be a live edition of Later with Jools Holland, with Radiohead playing an hour-long set.

The playlist will include new material from their forthcoming Amnesiac album and old songs.

The Lamacq Live show on BBC Radio 1 will feature concert highlights two days later.
