Best Entertainment Performance: Graham Norton for So Graham Norton (Channel 4)

Best Comedy Performance: Sacha Baron Cohen for Da Ali G Show (Channel 4)

Richard Dimbleby Award for Best Presenter (Factual, Features and News): Louis Theroux for Louis Theroux's Weird Weekends (BBC Two)

Best Single Drama: Care (BBC One)

Best Drama Series: Clocking Off (BBC One)

Best Drama Serial: Longitude (Channel 4)

Best Soap: Emmerdale (ITV)

Best Factual Series or Strand: Britain at War in Colour (ITV)

Flaherty Documentary: 100% White - True Stories (Channel 4)

Best Features: The Naked Chef (BBC Two)

The Huw Weldon Award for Specialised Programme or Series (Arts, History, Religion and Science): Howard Goodall's Big Bangs (Channel 4)

Best Sport: Sydney Olympics 2000 (BBC One/Two)

Best News and Current Affairs Journalism: Out of Africa (Channel 4)

Best Innovation: Big Brother (Channel 4)

Best Entertainment Programme or Series: So Graham Norton (Channel 4)

Situation Comedy Award: Black Books (Channel 4)

Best Comedy Programme or Series: Da Ali G Show (Channel 4)

Lew Grade Audience Award: Inspector Morse

Alan Clarke Award for Outstanding Personal Contribution to TV: Ruth Caleb

Dennis Potter Writers Award: Lynda La Plante

Academy Fellowship: John Thaw

There were special awards for Patrick Moore and Coronation Street (ITV).
