Michael Jackson is teaming up with his brothers at an all-star concert in New York to mark his 30 years as a solo artist.

The brothers are reuniting for the first time since touring and recording their Victory album in 1984.

Other stars set to celebrate with Jackson at Madison Square Gardens include Whitney Houston, Britney Spears, 'N Sync and Shaggy.

In a statement, the King of Pop said: "I am very excited to celebrate my 30th anniversary as a solo artist with such a distinguished array of talent, friends and fans."

He added: "I look forward to performing live and reuniting with my brothers on this special night."

Michael started out as a child singer in the legendary Jackson 5, with his brothers Tito, Jermaine, Jackie and Marlon.

They quickly made music business history in 1970 when their first 4 releases topped the US charts.

Michael began his solo career just two years later with the ballad Got To Be There, quickly followed by Rockin' Robin and Ben.

In the 1980s Michael found himself catapulted into mega-stardom with the release of his Bad and Thriller albums.

Thriller remains one of the most successful albums of all time with more than 40 million copies sold by the early 1990s.

His work as a solo artist was recognised by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in March.

He had already been inducted as part of the Jackson 5 in 1997.

Michael is currently putting the finishing touches to his long-awaited new album.

He is expected to showcase the new material at his anniversary show which will be his first US concert since his 1988 Bad tour.
