Madonna reveals world tour dates
Madonna
Madonna has been playing small venues recently
Madonna has annnounced the dates for her first tour in eight years as she prepares to travel to 19 cities in Europe and America.

The show starts on 5 June in Cologne, but details of when tickets will on sale have not yet been released.

The 42-year-old star's publicists are promising that The Drowned World Tour will be the most extravagant stage show of her career.

Fans can expect a few surprises on Madonna's new tour
The mother-of-two will finish the tour on 9 September in Los Angeles.

Madonna plans to perform material from her latest album Music, including the hit single What it Feels Like for a Girl.

New husband Guy Ritchie directed the video for the song, but it fell foul of censors who deemed it too violent.

Madonna will also resurrect some of her classic songs which have kept her career on a high for nearly two decades.

Previous concerts, such as the Girlie Show Tour, sparked controversy over whether she had crossed the borders of decency.

Webcast success

It is not yet known whether motherhood will have tamed the superstar.

A select crowd got to witness her latest transformation at a low-key gig at the Brixton Academy in front of 3,500 people.

She was on stage for just half an hour but it was enough to wow the critics, marking her first London performance in seven years.

The performance was still seen by millions, however, as it went out live on the internet as a webcast.

She did a similar set at New York's Roseland Ballroom.
