Britain dominates TV award nominations
![]() Anne Robinson's Weakest Link show has been nominated
Britain has received more nominations for the 41st Golden Rose Festival television awards than any other country.
Two of the biggest television hits of recent years - Channel 4's Big Brother and BBC1's The Weakest Link - were among the British nominations. Channel 4's spoof interviewer Ali G is up for a comedy award, alongside the BBC's Attention Scum and Lenny Henry's In Pieces series. ITV's Popstars, which documented the creation of the young pop group Hear'Say, was nominated in the Variety section, as was the couch-based unscripted comedy, Baddiel and Skinner Unplanned. Worldwide The 41st Golden Rose Festival, which takes place in Montreux, Switzerland, at the end of April, will judge programmes from 19 countries across the world. BBC2's nostalgia series, I Love The 1970s, could also collect an award after being nominated in the Arts and Specials category. Another BBC2 series, the comedy current affairs quiz, Have I Got News For You? has been nominated in the gameshow section. Award ceremony rivalries might be re-ignited with the news that Oasis and Robbie Williams have both been nominated in the music category. The festival begins on 26 April and runs until 1 May.
