Ricky Martin set for film debut
Ricky Martin
Singing sensation Ricky Martin could move into films
Latin singer Ricky Martin is in talks to make his acting debut in a political heavyweight thriller.

Screendaily reports Martin is close to signing a deal to make his screen debut in The Assassination - a political thriller to be directed by George A Romero.

Oscar nominee Ed Harris, James Coburn and Anthony Quinn are also lined up to appear in the film, based on the death of Dominican Republic dictator Rafael Trujillo.

Trujillo was shot dead on 30 May 1961 by an unknown assassin.

Puerto Rican Martin is tipped to play heroic revolutionary Tavito de la Maza.

As well as starring in the movie he will be performing the title song and contributing to the soundtrack.

The 29-year-old shot to fame with his smash hit Livin' La Vida Loca, gaining him millions of fans around the world attracted by his dark looks and provocative dance routines.

Martin went on to have hits with Shake your Bon Bon and She Bangs, fuelling Latin music into the pop mainstream.

A duet with American pop star Christina Aguilera, Nobody Wants To Be Lonely, is released on 26 February.
