No action over Liam 'assault'
Liam Gallagher
Gallagher was said to have grabbed a member of airline staff
The police are to take no further action against Oasis star Liam Gallagher over an alleged indecent assault on a female member of British Airways staff.

We are delighted that police have taken this decision

Oasis spokeswoman
The 30-year-old ground staff member said the singer had made a rude gesture towards her and grabbed her bottom on 12 January before boarding a plane to Rio de Janeiro.

Airport police questioned Gallagher, 28, on Tuesday about the alleged incident.

Gatwick later said that, following further consultation between the police and the Crown Prosecution Service, there would be no action taken.

An Oasis spokeswoman said on Tuesday: "We are delighted that police have taken this decision."

Life ban

Gallagher was travelling with the rest of his band to the Rock In Rio festival when the alleged assault is said to have occurred.

The BA member concerned reported the alleged assault immediately to the airline.

Following the Gatwick statement on Wednesday, British Airways said: "It was entirely a matter for the police. We co-operated fully with them."

In 1998 Gallagher was banned for life from flying with Cathay Pacific after passengers complained the singer and his entourage were drunk.

It was reported at the time that he refused to comply with a no-smoking rule and threw objects around, with the plane's captain threatening to divert the plane and have the party thrown off.
