Lopez holds lead at US cinema
The Wedding Planner
Lopez and McConaughey remain at number one
Jennifer Lopez's The Wedding Planner has remained number one at the US box office for the second consecutive week.

Actress and singer Lopez - whose new album J.Lo debuted at number one in the US and UK last week - plays a wedding organiser who falls in love with the fiancé of one of her clients.

The romantic comedy, also starring Matthew McConaughey, took $11m (£7m) over the weekend from Friday to Sunday.

4. Save the Last Dance
5. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

In second place with $10m (£6m) came horror movie Valentine, starring David Boreanaz and Denise Richards, about a serial killer preying on beautiful women.

Tom Hanks's desert island drama Cast Away held on the number three position with takings of $7m (£4m), six weeks after it came out.

No one film made a massive impact on the box office. Overall, the top 12 films made $73.8m (£50m) - up 2.3% on the same weekend last year.

Former number one movie Save the Last Dance, starring Julia Stiles, slipped from number two to four with takings of $7.4m (£5m).

Ang Lee's Oscar-tipped Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon continued its steady ascent, jumping from sixth place to fifth, after making $7.3m (£4.9m).

New release Head over Heels came in at seven

Traffic, Steven Soderbergh's acclaimed drug-trafficking drama, slipped from fourth to sixth with $6.3m (£4.2m).

New movie, Head Over Heels, came in at number seven, with takings of $5m (£3.3m).

Freddie Prinze Jr and Monica Potter star in the comedy about a woman who suspects her new boyfriend may be a murderer.

British director Guy Ritchie's gangster movie Snatch, starring Brad Pitt and Vinnie Jones, slipped to nine while Sir Sean Connery's Finding Forrester remained at number eight.

Rounding off the list was Chocolat, starring Juliet Binoche and Johnny Depp.

The film continued to gain in popularity as it climbed into the top 10 for the first time.

The film made $3.7m (£2.5m) - more than last weekend even though it was showing in 30 fewer cinemas.

Binoche stars as a woman who ruffles feathers in a local community when she moves in, opens a chocolate shop and becomes romantically involved with free spirit Depp.
