Star Trek 'stalker' faces trial
Star Trek
Star Trek: Voyager is a spin-off from the sci-fi hit
A man arrested for allegedly following and harassing Star Trek: Voyager actress Jeri Ryan has been ordered to stand trial on charges of stalking and extortion.

Ryan plays Seven of Nine, a part-human, part-alien crew-member on Voyager, a series spun off from the original Star Trek.

It is alleged that Marlon Pagtakhan, 22, had "wilfully, maliciously and repeatedly" followed and harassed Ryan.

He is also said to have made a "credible threat" against her and her family and will stand trial on the five criminal counts.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Alan Ellis found that there was enough evidence for a trial to go ahead.

Held on bail

In the US legal system, the accused must attend court in order for it to be decided whether there is enough evidence for them to stand trial.

Mr Pagtakhan has been held on bail since his arrest last year.

Ryan is a former regular on NBC's series Dark Skies where she portrayed Juliet, a government agent who helps in an extra-terrestrial programme.

She has also appeared on TV series including Matlock, Melrose Place, Murder, She Wrote, and Diagnosis Murder.

Ryan will also feature in the forthcoming Wes Craven film Dracula 2000.
