School's fury at Traffic reference
Catherine Zeta-Jones in Traffic
Traffic has already won five Golden Globe nominations
An American school is upset its name is used in acclaimed film Traffic, about a former judge and his drug-addicted daughter.

The movie stars Michael Douglas as the father of the heroin-addicted girl, played by Erika Christensen, who is identified as a student at the Cincinnati Country Day School, Ohio.

The school's real-life head, Dr Charles Clark, told the Cincinnati Enquirer the filmmakers never sought or received permission to use the name of the school.

The film, which is nominated for five Golden Globes, also stars Douglas' wife, Catherine Zeta Jones, in a separate plot line.

Clark has contacted the offices of USA Films, who made the movie, in an effort to find out how the school's name became part of Traffic.

But he is still waiting for a reply.

Clark says he wants the school's name deleted from the film and would also like an apology.

In Traffic, which is directed by Steven Soderbergh, Douglas portrays an Ohio Supreme Court justice who becomes the US government's "drugs tsar".

But his 16-year-old daughter has a serious habit of her own.

Clark told the Cincinnati Enquirer that he feared the association would damage the school's reputation.

He said: "There's a great deal of reference to drug use in the film and associating that with Country Day School is disconcerting.''
