Actress Kate's rock'n'roll wedding
Kate Hudson and Chris Robinson
Hudson and Robinson: Dating for about one year
Actress Kate Hudson, who plays a groupie in the movie Almost Famous, tied the knot with the lead singer of US rock band the Black Crowes.

Hudson, the 21-year-old daughter of Goldie Hawn, married Chris Robinson, 34, on New Year's Eve.

The ceremony was held at the Aspen, Colorado ranch Hawn shares with her long-time companion actor Kurt Russell, Hudson's publicist announced.

The couple had been going out for about a year and it was the first marriage for both of them.

Hawn and Russell were among the 70 family and friends at the evening ceremony, and Russell gave the bride away.

Hudson's estranged natural father, comedian Bill Hudson, was not present, her publicist added.

Hudson's maid of honour was her friend Dyani Redclay, while Robinson's best man was his younger brother and song-writing partner Rich, who plays guitar with the Black Crowes.

The other members of the Black Crowes also attended.

Golden Globe nod

The evening had a romantic 19th Century theme, borne out by Hudson's dress, which had a corseted bodice and large full skirt.

The couple were still at the ranch on Monday, with Hudson due to fly to London next week to star in a remake of the 1939 war drama Four Feathers for director Shekhar Kapur.

Her acting talent drew acclaim when she was nominated for a Golden Globe for her role as kind-hearted groupie Penny Lane in writer/director Cameron Crowe's Almost Famous.

The film is out in the UK on 26 January.

The Black Crowes, which formed in Atlanta in 1988, resulting in hits including Jealous Again and Remedy, are recording a new album.

They recently toured with former Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page.
