Havers robbed at airport
Nigel Havers
Havers is one of the UK's best-known actors
Actor Nigel Havers has had £1,000 stolen while he was checking in for a flight at Gatwick Airport.

The 51-year-old actor, best known for roles in Don't Wait Up and Dangerfield, was in a queue at a British Airways checking-in desk at the airport when his briefcase was snatched.

The case contained the money, along with credit cards and TV scripts.

No-one saw the incident, but the case was found 15 minutes later without the money. However, the scripts had been left behind.

Known for his smooth charm on screen, Havers rose to fame after starring in the film Chariots of Fire, for which he was nominated for a Bafta.

He also appeared in A Passage To India and Empire of The Sun before concentrating on TV and theatre roles.

Recently, he has appeared in the BBC's medical drama Dangerfield, and the London stage show, Art.
