Donohoe lands Mrs Robinson role
Amanda Donohoe
Amanda Donohoe will join the cast in February
Amanda Donohoe is the latest high-profile actress to take over the role of Mrs Robinson in the West End stage adaptation of The Graduate.

She will take over from model-turned-actress Jerry Hall, who succeeded Hollywood actress Kathleen Turner in August.

With her Graduate co-star Josh Cohen
Jerry Hall's reviews were less than glowing
And like her predecessors, who caused a sensation by disrobing in the role, Ms Donohoe will appear in the nude on stage.

The British actress, who is famous for baring all alongside Oliver Reed in the film Castaway, takes over from Ms Hall on 12 February.

The play has smashed box office records at London's Gielgud Theatre, taking 6m since it opened in April.

It tells the story of a young student who has an affair with an older woman.

Tough critics

Ms Turner and Matthew Rhys took the leading roles when the play opened with Ms Hall and Josh Cohen taking over.

Ms Donohoe will star alongside Andres Williams and Coral Breed.

There will be intense media interest in her interpretation of the part.

Kathleen Turner
Turner caused a sensation as the icy seductress
Ms Turner's performance as Mrs Robinson prompted standing ovations from audiences, however the critics were divided.

But they were united in their less than glowing assessment of Ms Hall's performance.

Nicholas de Jongh from London's Evening Standard said she was "miscast and far too inexperienced" to take the role immortalised by Anne Bancroft in the original Sixties film.

But despite the reviews tickets for The Graduate remain hot property.
